Collection: Lets get Mel to Mexico

Hi all,

My name is Melanie Bockus, for those who don't know me. I am 46 years old. Now, here is a little about my story.

I was first diagnosed with breast cancer in 2009 at the age of 32. At this time, I had surgery to remove the tumour and underwent chemotherapy and radiation. I was in remission for 10 years before being diagnosed with cancer again in 2019. At this time, I was diagnosed with breast cancer again. We decided the best option for me was to have a double mastectomy and hysterectomy to prevent further cancer growth.

Unfortunately, despite these two surgeries, I was diagnosed with metastatic cancer in my lymph nodes in 2021 which came back stronger in 2022. Now, the cancer has continued growing despite the chemotherapy treatments and immunotherapy. No surgery is possible at this state of my diagnosis which leaves me with very few options.
Health Canada offers chemotherapy treatments that target the tumours directly.

In Mexico, their chemotherapy treatments are focused on immune health and targeting what causes the tumour growth, rather than the tumours themselves. The chemotherapy being offered to me in Canada is no longer strong enough to fight off the continuous growth of my tumours. While in Mexico, I have a better chance of fighting my cancer and beating it once and for all.

The cost of treatments in Mexico range between $50,000 and $70,000. Your extremely generous donations, love, support, words of encouragement and dedication towards my children will be remembered forever. 

My children, Courtney Foster, age 24 and Makayla Foster, age 22, are my world. I trust that this community will take the best care of them, support and love them regardless of the outcome. I feel the upmost love for every person here and am so thankful for your support. I wish to thank you from the bottom of my heart for all that this community has done for me and appreciate it more than you know.
